Travelling during early pregnancy, is it safe? – end

Hola!!

Finally, mommy is free from 'Mr. Dateline' - mommy's bestfriend. He hold me tight enough to make my blog change its name from Wordpress to WEBpress. Had a little free time, here I am - in front of my 'lappy' - blogging. This entry comes to an end. We have to move to 'new chapter' kan? Hihi.

My hubby and I love to travel no matter what. So, few weeks before our journey to Phuket, we and our 2 colleagues registered for the Treasure Hunt competition organized by our company. This time around, we headed to discover the hidden treasures in Penang - "Redah Sampai Penang". We decided to join the hunt even though I'm pregnant and it has been scheduled from 12 to 13 June 2010 which is 'just in time' - a day after we touch down. Yes, I repeat, a day after we've got back here from Phuket. Well, I'm already in my second trimester ait? Shouldn't be a problem ~wink~ Hopefully.

The entry fee is RM80 per person which includes a 2 days 1 night stay with a buffet dinner and breakfast at Bayview Beach Resort Penang which is located next to Hard Rock Hotel. We started at Subang for short briefing by the Marshall. We have been given a set of clues (questions) for the hunt, puzzles and tulip. No..no..not the flower. Tulip is something like a map or a direction provider. It will tell you where to go and also tell you where to find the answers of the questions given. It is essential to find your way around.

Please bare in mind that excellent tulip reader is a 'must have' person in your team towards guiding you along the correct treasure hunt route. In this case, Mr. Hubby - the genius tulip reader cum driver has been voted. Shah the owner of the 'lucky car' assisted him with the tulip and at the same time helping me with the clues given. Oh! not to forget our 'Mr. Masterskill Guy' - Idham -  also helping me with the puzzles. The only clue that he can figured out the answer is 'Masterskill' - Clue: Ijazah (Masters) yang boleh membunuh (Kill). That is why we call him 'Mr. Masterskill'.

From Subang (Flag-Off and got few answers to the clues here) our next check point is Glenmarie (Lucky we have to stop here for answer submission coz mommy have to pee-pee). After that we headed to Ipoh (Spent time here to solve the puzzles and the secret treasure). Then off to Taiping (OMG!! the road is so bumpy and lots of construction under progress), Juru (last check point) and final destination - Penang (check-in!! Yay!!). The hunt took about 11 hours of non-stop journey - exhausting but enjoyable moment - full of laughter.

The 'lucky car'  and the luckiest number ever '12' ;p

Travelling during early pregnancy, is it safe? – Part3

Hi folks,

Wondering where was this picture taken?

Let's play lil' guessing game.

Helpful hint:  The largest island in Thailand - The Pearl of  The Andaman.
Still don't have any idea? Shame on you - It's Phuket, people!! Hehe..

I'm about 20 weeks pregnant when we decided to fly to Phuket for our second honeymoon. Yes, please remove the word 'early' in the title above because it's no longer valid. Hohoho. I'm officially beyond my first trimester at that time. Let's celebrate the accomplishment with..err..

Some caffeine won't kill me ait? Heh..

Ok, back to business. By what you've read so far, seems like it should be fine to travel. 9 months is a long time to be expected not to travel, ait?.  However, it is important to discuss your trip plans with your doctor (Honestly, I'm not doing this during my pregnancy - tau nasihat jek). Your doctor will need to know your travel plans especially if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, placental abnormalities, spotting or are carrying twins. These can all contribute to risk of harm when travelling and your doctor may have to insist you cancel or postpone your plans.

So, for normal pregnancy cases (like me..hehe) don't let your pregnancy keeps you from travelling and living life. Here are some travelling tips for mommy-to-be:
  • Bring your snacks - Get stuck in traffic or at the airport? Mommy & 'growing peanut' suddenly hungry? You may need it. Also can help ease common discomforts of pregnancy like morning sickness and feeling faint.

I heart you chips

  •  Take stretch breaks - Try to move around at least every one hour is a must.  This will help prevent soreness and stiffness as well as blood clots.

Stretching like nobody's business

  •  Be prepared - Carry a copy of your current prenatal record and your insurance card with you. Don't forget to bring your medication too. While you don't anticipate problems, it's always a possibility.

  •  Stay hydrated - Pregnant women need a lot of fluids. Traveling makes it very easy to become dehydrated. Be sure that you always carry a water bottle (complimentary mineral water will do..hehe) with you. Remember that thirst is not always a great sign of if your body needs fluids.

  •  Dress for the trip - Be sure to dress appropriately for the trip. When flying in an airplane or riding in a car, you don't always control the temperature. Wearing layers will give you more ease in staying cool or warm as you need to be during the trip.

  •    Enjoy your trip!!

    Sightseeing - James Bond Island

    Island Hopping & Snorkeling

Result: Papa-to-be 'suffered' nausea. Mommy? Heh..not affected at all.

     Canoeing

Food is a must - tried their Tom Yam.

    Lotsa..lotsa..Tom Yam

Not to be missed - Massage -

    Bye..bye..Phuket

So, mommies - Don't worry - Buckle up and be safe. See ya!!

Travelling during early pregnancy, is it safe? – Part2

Hi readers =)

When I and hubby found out I was pregnant, we were so happy.  My hubby just couldn't resist telling everyone about it.  He right away started to make phone calls to our families even though I asked him to wait. I don't think I'm ready to tell people at that time, even my own family. I'm not prepared!! (macam la aku pregnant sebelum nikah..haiya ini olang).

I can remember, few days after we got the news.  I was like..Ok, I’m pregnant, so what’s next?  Should I tell my family? - Checked -, Colleagues? - Erkk - and comes the hardest part. Should I tell my boss about the big news? When? How? What if my boss does not allow me doing Branches audit anymore?  - Means no travelling – There goes my 2nd income; travelling allowance – I think waiting is the best option - Until I'm totally prepared (I will share my story about 'breaking the news'  in my next..next..next..post, Ok? Promise!!)

So, I carried on like normal and decided to tell my colleagues and boss until my baby bump visible. Muahaha. One day, my boss call me – Ok, at that time, the only thing that I can image is my boss said, "Eda, do you have anything you want to tell me?" – Luckily, she not ask me that. Hewhew.

Boss: Eda, I want you, XXX and YYY go to Kota Kinabalu (KK) Branches. You may start on Monday, next week.  Your travelling day will be on Sunday. The task will be covering 4 Branches in 2 weeks time.  Is it ok for you?

The Demon Mommy: - Gulp!-..Err..Ok boss, no problem at all ($$$$). I’ll prepare the travelling form & book the flight tickets.

I know..I know..I have the opportunity to tell her about my pregnancy and choose not to go. But, I opt not to tell her or ask her to replace me – The kiasu-ness in me - Many people travel whilst pregnant. Even I did once before. Ait? Hehe.

So, I choose not to worry about it. Since I have no big issues such as nausea and fatigue – based on Jakarta experience - long distances journey should not stop me from living my life as normal as I can in the meantime.

Pray - Baby..please be good to mommy ok..

Well, I'm not going to tell you about my work - Boring -
These are our activities during weekend:

Travelling during early pregnancy, is it safe? - Part1

Hi mommies,

I didn't know I was actually pregnant up until my 8th weeks.  I felt so bad out things I was doing.  My work (salahkan kerja pulak) requires me to be on the move, travelling here and there and not to forget to say that 'Mr. Dateline' is my 'best friend', inseparable - like a rope tied around my neck. This, makes me restless and I don't really have time to think about having babies. Because I didn't think anything of it (to get pregnant), so I carried on like normal.

Until one day, suddenly I baru noticed that my period dah lewat 2 bulan camtu. I told my hubby about it and he ask me to not worry. Maybe your hormone tak balance katanya. Giler?!! mana boleh tak risau, 2 bulan kot. Oh, did I told u that 3 - 4 months back kitorang dah book flight ticket to Beijing (promo free seat kot!!) and I already confirmed my flight ticket to Jakarta for departmental conference. Yerp, sungguh galak berjalan ye kawan-kawan.

So, on the next day, we went to pharmacy to buy the pregnancy test kit - yang akhirnya terkepam di dalam kotak tak berusik selama seminggu - Hamaigad, do I have to pee-pee on that stick? that is so not cool ok (banyak alasan), tamau - freaking out sudah (I takde la pee-pee direct on that stick ok, mestila I dip into container kheennn, haish!!) I only decided to proof that I'm a normal woman a day before I flew to Jakarta - and the results....jeng..jeng..jeng..

2 red lines -1 line is lighter than the other one - hmmm..tak kot (sedapkan hati nak fly esok)

My hubby dah super-excited tengok the results & said 'yes'..'yes'..'yes' - Me? still in denial - Kiasu betul - Dalam kepala dah terbayang macam-macam - He kiss me on my forehead & cheeks and started to risau sebab esok aku sudah mau fly.

My journey & stay - Jakarta:

tak lalu makan - ok, that's weird because I'm a good eater.

Queue selama 2 jam di Imigresen Jakarta

Shopping like hell - bought that purple kebaya for post pregnancy ;p -

Berjimba nonton movik di bioskop berhampiran - 3D lagi

Meronggeng di Hard Rock bersama 'duta Enjoy Jakarta' -heh-

Now, u tell me..do I look like pregger?
After I got back to my lovely country (baru nak appreciate negara sendiri), me & hubby FINALLY decided to went for ultra sound scan. Nervous giler ok!! What If I got pregnant?? alamak, mesti tak vogue (read as 'vo-ge' haha), dah tak boleh travel, baju bagaikan kelambu - hamaigad, kene telan pil yang besar2 saiznye..on top of the chart mesti la makan tak boleh main rembat jek..huhu..
After 20 minutes in Doc Amar's room, I got this in my hand..

-Little peanut in my womb-

Sudah 8 weeks kata Doc.
Our first child - Melt - Love - Happy - Contented -
Luckily, my little peanut kuat - Alhamdulillah-
